The Bridge Veterinary Surgery, Highbridge

Conversion of office building to new veterinary practice, 2025

Following a search for a new home, The Bridge Veterinary Surgery, an established independent practice serving its community since 2008, set out to relocate to a facility that could support their continued growth. Having outgrown their previous premises, the team needed a space that remained close to their loyal client base while offering improved accessibility, better parking, and a modern veterinary environment.

A new out-of-town site was chosen for its convenient location, ample space, and potential to accommodate a high-quality veterinary fit-out. With a growing caseload and expanding team, Bridge Vets required upgraded clinical and support areas throughout. The new premises provided a blank canvas to deliver a layout tailored to the practice’s evolving needs.

Key design features included additional consultation rooms, a much larger prep area (addressing the limitations experienced in their previous premises), and enhanced surgery zones to support the growing caseload. A significant step forward was the inclusion of species-specific waiting areas and wards, designed to reduce stress for both patients and owners while improving overall welfare.

While the new building offered more space, it also introduced a two-storey layout. Initial concerns about vertical access were quickly addressed through the installation of two platform lifts, ensuring the entire facility remained step-free and fully accessible. This practical solution has been well received by clients and supports the practice’s ongoing commitment to inclusivity.

From the outset, ACD worked closely with the veterinary team to prioritise both client comfort and staff wellbeing. The layout was carefully developed to support efficient clinical workflows while retaining the welcoming, personal feel that defines The Bridge Vets. Natural light was maximised throughout to create bright, uplifting spaces for staff and visitors alike, reinforcing a calm, professional atmosphere.

Brand continuity was another important aspect of the relocation. A bespoke colour palette and signage were developed to reflect the existing identity, helping to carry over the familiar look and feel into a refreshed and modern setting.

Altogether, the new practice marks an exciting step forward for Bridge Veterinary Surgery - functional, accessible, and designed to support the team’s continued growth while staying true to the character and ethos of the practice.
