Equine
We have been involved in a number of equine veterinary projects over the years and have developed a strong understanding of the specialist requirements associated with equine clinical care.
In a veterinary setting, given the size, strength and handling requirements of horses, careful consideration must be given to patient movement throughout the clinical journey, from arrival and admission through to treatment, recovery and discharge. This includes the design of knock-down and recovery areas, safe circulation routes, transportation arrangements, handling facilities and appropriate staff safety measures. We have even designed specialist equine theatres incorporating overhead hoist systems to assist with the safe movement and positioning of horses before, during and after procedures.
Beyond veterinary facilities, we also have extensive experience in the design and improvement of equine welfare and rehabilitation buildings and external exercise areas . This includes stabling, isolation units, exercise yards, ménages, horse walkers, and trotting-up areas. In each case, we create facilities that are safe and comfortable for both horses and their carers.

Large Animal
Large animal veterinary care plays a vital role in supporting the UK’s farming, agricultural and equestrian industries, and we have extensive experience in the design of facilities that cater for these specialist requirements.
Whilst a significant proportion of large animal veterinary work continues to be undertaken on farms and at client premises, we are seeing an increasing number of practices investing in dedicated facilities where larger animals can be transported to receive more advanced diagnostics, treatment and surgical care. These facilities often require a very different approach to a traditional small animal practice, with greater emphasis on vehicle access, livestock handling, biosecurity and staff safety.
Whether accommodating cattle, sheep, pigs, alpacas or other livestock, we work to understand the practical requirements associated with each species. From bespoke holding pens through to imaging suites, operating theatres and inpatient accommodation, we can help develop a large animal veterinary facility that is safe and efficient.
