ACD Projects is committed to sustainability and supporting the transition towards a net-zero future, while embedding ethical and responsible practices throughout the business. At ACD, we believe sustainability is about making positive changes, whether large or small, and we work closely with our clients to deliver design and construction solutions that are both environmentally responsible and commercially practical.
How can we help make your project more sustainable?
- Strategic Sustainability Advice: We can help you establish realistic sustainability objectives that meet your budget, operational requirements, and long-term aspirations.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Throughout your project, we will work closely with statutory authorities, consultants and contractors to embed sustainable thinking into the wider design and delivery process.
- Nature and Biodiversity Integration: We incorporate nature-based solutions into our designs through animal-friendly planting, biodiversity enhancements, landscaping, and habitat creation. Incorporating natural elements into both internal and external spaces creates healthier, more enriching settings for animals, people, and local ecosystems alike.
- Responsible Material Specification: We encourage and specify durable, low-impact materials that balance environmental performance, longevity, maintenance requirements, and animal welfare considerations, helping to create sustainable buildings that stand the test of time.
- Renewable and Sustainable Technologies: We explore the suitability of technologies such as solar PV, wind turbines, heat pumps, thermal storage, rainwater harvesting, greywater recycling systems, and energy-efficient mechanical and electrical services to help reduce operational costs and environmental impact.
- Circular Economy Principles: Where feasible, we support the retention, refurbishment, and adaptation of existing buildings to minimise waste and reduce embodied carbon.
- Environmental Assessment Support: We can assist in navigating sustainability frameworks and planning requirements, including BREEAM and local authority environmental policies where appropriate.

How our practice approaches sustainability
- Knowledge & Continuous Improvement: We remain informed of evolving legislation, technologies, and industry best practice, ensuring sustainability considerations remain at the forefront of our projects and business operations.
- Digital Delivery: We utilise digital tools such as BIM and collaborative project platforms to improve coordination, reduce the need for paper-based processes, and support efficient project delivery.
- Practice Operations: Within our own business, we continually seek opportunities to reduce waste, minimise unnecessary travel, and lessen our environmental impact. For example, where practical, we encourage the use of public transport and also seek to arrange meetings (where these cannot be undertaken remotely) and site visits within the same geographical area, helping to reduce unnecessary journeys and make more efficient use of resources.
Every project presents an opportunity to make a positive impact. If you would like to discuss a sustainable approach to your next project, we would be delighted to hear from you!
